Geographically, the Northeast Coast is between east longitude 121°65'~122°15' and north latitude 24°50'~25°25'. The area starts from Nanya in Taipei County in the north and ends in Toucheng in Yilan County. The coastline in the northeast Taiwan is 67 km long and the marine area encompasses 4,275 hectares. Along the coastline, there are gulfs, escarpments, streams, erosion platforms, boulder beaches, sand beaches and coral reefs as well as a diversity of ecological environments. As Kuroshio current and the China coastal current meet in the area, the mixing currents and the nutritive salts brought by them result in abundant and diverse fishery resources.
